New legislation on the quality of Water for Human Consumption (2023)
The new Ministerial Decision (D1(d)/GP οικ. 27829) on the quality of water for human consumption, as just recently published in Government Gazette 3525, issue B, on 25 May 2023, is effective immediately and repeals the Ministerial Decision (C1 (d)/GP οικ. 67322) for drinking water. The new EQA specifies the specifications of water flowing in the distribution network and taken at the point, within the building or food establishment, where it comes out of the tap normally used to supply water for human consumption, as well as for handling or processing food.
In particular, this EIA:

The concept of risk assessment is introduced,
Provisions are introduced for materials, processing chemicals and filtration media in contact with water intended for human consumption,
New substances are added to the control of drinking water and the parametric values for some of them are changed,
Directive (EU) 2020/2184 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 December 2020 (L435/1, 23.12.2020) recasting and repealing Council Directive 98/83/EC and its amendments on the quality of water intended for human consumption is fully incorporated into the Greek legal order.
